Lauren Kensley

About Me
How Did I Get Here?
Hi everyone! My name is Lauren Kensley, and I am a costume designer and technician from Aurora, Colorado. My costuming journey began with sewing lessons at seven years old. My passion continued to grow throughout high school when I competed in clothing construction in 4-H, winning several awards for my work.
I was introduced to theatre as a performer in middle school and knew I wanted to pursue it as a career, but I had no idea what actually went into a production. My first semester of undergrad taught me the wide range of opportunities theatre has to offer and I was interested in many of them, but as soon as I entered the costume shop, I knew what I wanted to do- it just felt so much like home.
In May 2024, I received my Certificate in Theatrical Design and Technology, and in December 2024 I received my B.A. in Theatre Studies from the University of Northern Colorado. In August I will begin my studies as an MFA Costume Design candidate at Ohio University.
Alongside costuming I have a love for both American Sign Language and history, both of which are surprisingly handy in theatrical environments!
Thank you for the taking the time to look at my work, and please let me know if you have any questions!
